Life & Disability Insurance
Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
Life insurance provides protection for your beneficiary in the event of your death. All benefit-eligible employees will automatically receive Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance coverage administered by UNUM. The District provides a Basic Life benefit of $100,000 and an Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefit of $100,000.
Supplemental Life Benefits
In addition to Basic Life insurance, benefit-eligible employees may elect more coverage by enrolling in a Supplemental Group Term Life Insurance program underwritten by UNUM.
- For you: Coverage from $10,000 to $300,000 in $10,000 increments, up to 5 times your earnings.
- For your spouse/domestic partner: Get up to $100,000 of coverage in $5,000 increments. Spouse coverage cannot exceed 100% of the coverage amount you purchase for your self.
- For your dependent child(ren): Get up to $10,000 of coverage in $1,000 increments if eligible (see delayed effective date). One policy covers all of your children until their 26th birthday. The maximum benefit for children live birth to 6 months is $1,000.
If you wish to add Supplemental Life coverage for yourself, your Spouse/Domestic Partner, or children YOU MAY ONLY DO SO DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT (typically October of each year).
Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability
CVUHSD provides Short-Term Disability (STD) Insurance and Long - Term Disability Insurance (LTD) to all benefit-eligible employees administered by UNUM.
